The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
As you will know, this week we are celebrating the 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games. Our pupils have the opportunity to research the history of the event, learn about the athletes competing in the Special Olympics and be aware of the barriers they have to push through to compete in the sports they love.
On Friday morning we will be displaying some of the children’s work in the school halls. If you would like to come and see the work, please join us in school from 11 am onwards. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to take children home early so please bear this in mind.
Thank you for your continued support
