Important Message From Birchfield School - Following Advice From The Government on Coronavirus

Dear parents,

I am sure that you are all well aware of the news coverage regarding the Coronavirus. We have attached some official guidance that may be of use to you. As you will see from the information attached, we need to be vigilant whilst remaining calm - as stated; the risk to individuals in the UK at present is low.

If you have concerns or questions please come and see me or a member of SLT.

Following advice from the Government, please note the following;

  1. If you have travelled from:
  • Iran
  • Specific lockdown areas in Northern Italy as designated by the Government of Italy (believed to include the municipalities of Casalpusterlengo, Codogno, Castiglione d’Adda, Fombio, Maleo, Somaglia, Bertonico, Terranova dei Passerini, Castelgerundo and San Fiorano)
  • Special care zones in South Korea as designated by the Government of the Republic of South Korea
  • Hubei province (returned in the past 14 days)

You should immediately:

  • Call NHS 111 to inform them of your recent travel to the area

Do not come into the school and contact Mrs Ahmed at School on 0121 464 5661

Please follow this advice even if you do not have symptoms of the virus.

  • China
  • Thailand
  • Japan
  • Republic of Korea
  • Hong Kong
  • Taiwan
  • Singapore
  • Malaysia
  • Macau
  • Northern Italy (defined by a line above, and not including, Pisa, Florence and Rimini) (if one of the areas designated by the Italian government for specific lockdown, follow the advice above)
  • Vietnam
  • Cambodia
  • Laos
  • Myanmar

If you have returned to the UK from any of these areas in the last 14 days and develop symptoms of cough or fever or shortness of breath, you should immediately:

  • Stay indoors and avoid contact with other people as you would with the flu
  • Call NHS 111 to inform them of your recent travel to the country
  • Contact Mrs Ahmed at the School on 0121 464 5661
