Summer Fete Friday 12th July 2-4pm

Dear parents,

I am really pleased to invite you to join us at Birchfield on Friday 12thof July from 2 pm until 4 pm for our Summer Fete. This is such an exciting school event where staff, children and their families can come together to enjoy an afternoon’s fun and celebrate the successes of the school over the last year.  It will be very busy – amongst other things, there will be games, raffles, yummy food and crafts and stalls for all ages.

As a school we are significantly investing in reading resources and any money we raise from this event will be added to this. We know that access to high-quality reading materials really does make a huge difference to children’s lives.

In order for us to set up the fete, there will be no clubs in the afternoon. All children will need to be collected by parents at 12:15 or 1:15. The school will then be closed temporarily while staff set up in both playgrounds and then gates will be opened at 2 pm to invite you in. As school staff will be running the event, all parents will be responsible for the supervision of their children during the afternoon.

We would love your support with this event and if you are interested in getting involved further or donating prizes, please could you come and see me or a member of SLT. I am sure this will be a hugely successful event for our school and look forward to seeing you all there.

Thanks for your continued support.

We are delighted to announce that Mr Gulzar, our CEO has been awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in this year’s Queen’s Birthday honours list. Mr Gulzar is one of 48 people to be honoured this year for Services to Education.

On receiving the award Mr Gulzar said “I was surprised and humbled to be recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for Services to Education. Ever since I was a student teacher, I have done my very best to make a positive difference to children’s lives and for them to benefit from their education in the way that I have”. He added “This honour isn’t just for me and my family. It is for my colleagues, for the communities we serve and the children who are entrusted to us. I have had the privilege of working with amazing families and the most talented and dedicated people in education over the past 20 years without whom this recognition would be impossible”.

Sue Knottenbelt, Chair of Trustees at Prince Albert Community Trust said "The award of an OBE to Sajid Gulzar represents a huge personal achievement and well-deserved recognition for his outstanding leadership, dedication and effective work in raising standards and improving life chances in our city.  This recognition is great for Sajid personally and also great for the staff and pupils of our PACT schools and the communities we serve and for Birmingham."
