Self-Isolation Letter

Dear Parents and Carers,

Following some questions from parents, I wanted to write to you all to clarify when self-isolation is required and what this means.

What is meant by self-isolation?

Self-isolating means that you cannot have any contact with people outside of your household. This is to protect everyone and reduce the chances of the virus spreading. This means that the person/people self-isolating need to remain inside their own home for the entire period of self-isolation. This includes not being able to go to shops, visit family members or collect family members from school.

When to self isolate:

Contact with a positive case

If your child has come into contact with a positive case, they will need to self-isolate for 14 days. The rest of your household do not need to self-isolate unless your child develops symptoms. You would need to book a test for your child and your family would then need to self-isolate until the results came back. If negative, self-isolation would end for your child and household.

Your child or someone in your house tests positive

Your child/household member would need to self-isolate for 10 days from when the symptoms began. The rest of your household would need to self-isolate for 14 days from when your child or another person in the house developed symptoms.

Testing is extremely important and you should aim to book a test as soon as you or your child shows any of the COVID-19 symptoms.

Best wishes,

Mrs Thewlis
