Air Quality and Sustainable Travel Theatre Workshop

On 10th June 2026, Year 5 pupils took part in an engaging Air Quality and Sustainable Travel Theatre Workshop called Abbie Ayre and the Shed of Science.

During the interactive performance, pupils joined Abbie Ayre, her friend Charlie, and her scientist grandmother, Dr Rosemary Ayre, as they investigated the causes of air pollution with the help of the supercomputer, Derek 5000. Through fun experiments and exciting adventures, the children learned about the impact poor air quality can have on health and wellbeing.

The workshop helped pupils identify the causes of air pollution and explore how simple changes, such as walking, cycling, or using public transport, can reduce their impact on the environment. Pupils also discovered the many benefits of sustainable travel and were encouraged to become champions for cleaner air within our school community.

The session was both educational and inspiring, motivating our Year 5 pupils to think carefully about their travel choices and how they can help create a healthier, more sustainable future for everyone.
