Year 6 had an exciting opportunity to take part in an inspiring Elevation X STEM Workshop, where they put their learning about renewable energy into practice through a real-world engineering challenge.
The children explored how renewable energy sources can be used to power technology and transport. Working in teams, they applied their scientific understanding, creativity and problem-solving skills to design and build their own miniature cars. They then tested, evaluated and refined their designs to improve performance, just like real engineers.
The workshop encouraged pupils to think critically about the challenges facing our planet and how innovative technologies can help create a more sustainable future. It was fantastic to see the children demonstrating resilience, teamwork and determination as they tackled each stage of the project.
The highlight of the day was putting their completed cars to the test and seeing whose design could travel the furthest and most efficiently. The room was filled with excitement as pupils raced their creations and celebrated their successes together.
A huge thank you to the Elevation X team for delivering such an engaging and memorable experience. The workshop provided a wonderful opportunity for our children to develop their STEM skills while deepening their understanding of renewable energy and sustainability.
What the children said:
"I loved building the car because it felt like I was a real engineer. It was fun testing different ideas and seeing what worked best."
"The best part was racing our cars and improving them after each test. We learned so much from our mistakes."
"It was really exciting because we got to work as a team and solve problems together."
