Meet the new CEO

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope this letter finds you well. You will be aware that PACT has a new CEO, Phillipa Sherlock-Lewis, and as part of our continued commitment to fostering stronger partnerships, we will be holding an event so that parents can have an opportunity to get to know Phillipa and learn more about her vision for PACT schools.

The event will be hosted at Birchfield on Monday 23rd October at 4pm in the school hall. Access will be via the red door.

We hope that this will provide you with an opportunity to ask any questions you may have and engage in discussions about how we can continue to work together to ensure educational excellence for our students.

We genuinely value your presence and input, and we look forward to welcoming you. If you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact our school office.

Thank you for your ongoing support,

Warm regards,

Mrs Z Thewlis

July - Strike Action

You may be aware that the teaching union, NEU (teachers), has declared two further days of strike action which will take place on: Wednesday 5th and Friday 7th July.

The strikes are happening as the NEU is in dispute with the Secretary of State for Education because he has failed to make available additional and sufficient funds to allow employers to pay a fully funded increase in teachers’ pay at a rate greater than inflation. This is a national dispute between the unions and the government, and not because of any issues at our school.

I am writing to you to give you as much notice as possible that learning may be disrupted on this date. We are considering several options, including providing home learning resources and closing the school.

Teachers are under no obligation to inform us of their intent to strike so we may not know until the morning of each strike day if we need to close your child’s class for the day. We recommend that you start to make alternative childcare arrangements for these dates.

In the event that your child is not able to attend school due to their teacher striking, we will text you on the morning of the strike day by approximately 8am to inform you. Included in this text will be a link to a form where you can let school know if you require a packed lunch for your child if they are in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 or are in receipt of a free school meal. This meal will need to be collected from school and details will follow on the day.

We are sorry about the potential disruption to you and to your child’s education. I understand that this situation may be frustrating and ask that all members of our school community continue to treat each other with respect. Prince Albert Community Trust remains committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our pupils and delivering high-quality teaching.

We are working closely with our staff union representatives to keep up to date with the situation and we will inform you of arrangements as soon as possible. We will keep you updated by text message.

If you have any questions, please speak to a member of the team.

CEO Sajid Gulzar to move on from Prince Albert Community Trust

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the departure of Sajid Gulzar from his position as CEO of Prince Albert Community Trust. After more than 26 years of serving children across Birmingham and 14 dedicated years of service at PACT Sajid has decided to take on an exciting new role in Dubai with Kings’ Education.
